Hello! Thank you so much for your interest in Mother Bear Herbs. I have always been drawn to nature and head outdoors when I need to be calm, grounded, and healed. I have worn many hats in my life, but they all share a common theme which is that of a healer.
I competed my Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh. I wasn't sure what path I wanted to follow and held positions as a veterinary technician and pharmacy technician. I met my husband while working together at a hospital pharmacy. We decided to go on an adventure and move from Wisconsin to Texas. After a few years there we were blessed with our son. This is where my herbalism journey began.
While pregnant, I started to lead a more natural lifestyle. I planned a natural, unmedicated birth and signed up for a birth class with a local birth center. At one of our classes a local herbalist came to speak with us about herbs for pregnancy and we were able to taste test some wonderful teas. She told us a little bit about herself and her life and I was smitten. I'll admit, I may have had an herbalist crush. I wanted to be her when I grew up! A few months later I gave birth and realized there wasn't going to be much time to take on a new career. I loved being a stay-at-home mom, but I wanted to still do something to help others and to get me out of the house baby free once in a while. I learned about placenta encapsulation and knew I needed to learn the process so I could help other moms. I completed my placenta encapsulation certification in 2011. It is such a blessing to be able to help moms heal during those first few weeks after birth.
After my son turned one, I knew that heading back to Wisconsin sooner than later would be necessary. All of our family was still in Wisconsin and I was one tired mama that needed help! We made the trek back to Wisconsin at the end of 2012. The idea of becoming a clinical herbalist was still weighing heavily on my mind and I decided to seek out a program that would allow me to accomplish this. I found an amazing program in Madison, Wisconsin. During my apprenticeship, I had a daughter and decided this time I was going to make it work so I could continue my dream. I completed my clinical herbalist apprenticeship in 2017 and am so excited to be able to help others improve their health naturally.
